Chinese New Year in Paris

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, I've never been to China. As a kid, I always wanted to go to the parade which happens in Paris, but I never had the opportunity. When I grew up, I used to work on weekends so again, I was unable to go.
One year eventually, I was not working and I just bought my DSLR, so I seized the opportunity and went to attend to the parade ! It was for the Snake's year in 2013.

I don't know how I did it, but despite all of the policemen and security, I managed to sneak into the procession, among dragons and dancers. It was an amazing experience! I walked in the middle of the parade for the whole time and somehow blended ind.

In this post, you can check all the pics I took that day. It was my first experience as a coverage and my first time with a DSLR too. As you can see it was snowing especially in the end, and my hands were freezing big time, but it was really really cool and fun to do.

    1. Thank you Christine! Where are you from? I think Chine New Year is celebrated in many countries now by and for asian communities. I've been to many festivals which are not originally french and I think it can be a great way to travel too ;)

  2. That's so funny that you snuck into the procession! That's something I would do lol I have never been to China either but fortunately Seattle also hosts a large Lunar New Year celebration in the International District. It's always nice to experience different cultures and traditions even without having to leave your hometown. Good for you :)

  3. Awesome pictures, so much colour on otherwise a grey day. And you are right, you only need to travel outside your doorway to go travelling, adventure can always be found at home.

  6. Wow, great photos. I love seeing the merging of French and Chinese culture. It's amazing to see the far reach of Chinese culture. I've recently spent 9 months in Peru and was amazed that there was a whole Peruvian Chinese subculture.
