Cereal Killer Cafe - Brick Lane, London, England

Cereal Killer Cafe // London - Brick Lane

Hi Guys,

I was in London last week and I planned to visit the "Cereal Killer Cake". Some friends told me about it before so I really wanted to try !

If you never heard about this place, the "Cereal Killer Cafe" is a place which mainly serves cereals but with a lot of different varieties from all around the world.

The place is a bit touristy, but some locals are also going there. They have two cafes in London, one in Brick Lane and one in Camden. I went to the one in Brick Lane and as it is less touristy, I think it's less crowded. I went there around 16:00 (I was starving) and luckily there was no one before me.

What I really like was the huge choice of cereals. As I am a cinnamon addict, I took what they call a cocktail (it's a mix of different cereals), here is what I choose : "don’t have a cinnamon" a mix of : curiously cinnamon, cinnamon toast crunch, applejacks, honey, and semi skimmed milk. If you are into cinnamon too, I can only suggest you to take the same than me. My only regret is that I took a medium size instead of a large one.
I think cereals are pretty boring in France, so it was awesome to be able to have so much choice!

I walked a lot that day and I thought I'd reach earlier so I didn't have breakfast nor lunch...
It was also a bit cold, so I ordered a Stacked Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate! Yummy! (Pics are at the end of the post, I even made a video!)

It was not that pricey. Of course it was not cheap, but it's London so I expect everything to be more expensive! I paid £3,80 for the cereals and I don't remember exactly but something around £5 for the hot drink.

What I really liked :
  • the huge choice of cereals,
  • the taste (honestly I didn't think it would be this good),
  • the atmosphere of the room upstairs,
  • the not so expensive prices,
  • the locations : Camden and Brick Lane are two really cool areas in London,
  • the design and decoration.

What I didn't like :
  • I didn't like the room downstairs at all, I found it pretty gloomy and a bit creepy... (it's the room with the beds that you can see on the pics), also, I am not sure it's really hygienic.
  • the fact that it's a bit touristy,
  • the menu is a bit useless. Not everything is on it, and you have two walls of menu too xD,
  • if you're going during the rush hour, you might have to queue for a long time.

How to get there :
Brick Lane Cereal Killer Cafe :
139 Brick Lane // LONDON // E1 6SB
You'll have to take the overground and stop at the "Shoreditch High Street" station. The closest underground station is "White Chapel" which is on "District Line" (the green one), and on "Hammersmith and City Line" (the pink one).
 Camden Cereal Killer Cafe :
Mezz 2 // Stables Market // Camden // London // NW1 8AH
To go to Camden, you can get down at the "Camden Town" station, located on the "Northern Line" (the black one). Then you'll have to walk a bit till the Stables Market.

Chinese New Year in Paris, France

Chinese New Year in Paris

Hello everyone,
Today, I'll show you that you travel even if you're not moving from your hometown!! In deed, today is the Chinese New Year (year of the rooster) which is celebrated all over the world by asian communities.

Chinese New Year in Paris

Unfortunately, I've never been to China. As a kid, I always wanted to go to the parade which happens in Paris, but I never had the opportunity. When I grew up, I used to work on weekends so again, I was unable to go.
One year eventually, I was not working and I just bought my DSLR, so I seized the opportunity and went to attend to the parade ! It was for the Snake's year in 2013.

I don't know how I did it, but despite all of the policemen and security, I managed to sneak into the procession, among dragons and dancers. It was an amazing experience! I walked in the middle of the parade for the whole time and somehow blended ind.

In this post, you can check all the pics I took that day. It was my first experience as a coverage and my first time with a DSLR too. As you can see it was snowing especially in the end, and my hands were freezing big time, but it was really really cool and fun to do.

Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station, Uttar Pradesh, India

Lucknow's Railway Station, Uttar Pradesh, India

Hi guys,
So today, I am going to talk to you about the "Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station". Why a post about a railway station, you'd ask me ? Well, the "Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station" is one of the many landmarks in the city of Lucknow, and it's so beautiful, it would be a shame not to talk about it.

Lucknow's Railway Station, Uttar Pradesh, India

Lucknow has two railway stations, but the "Charbagh" one is the main one, its official name is "Lucknow NR" (NR stands for Northern Railway) and its code is LKO (very useful to know when you'll check your train tickets).

In hindi, Char Bagh means four gardens, the station is located in the area of Charbagh in the south of the city. In deed, it used to be an orchard till 1867, when the first station was built. The actual railway station was built in 1926. It has an indo-saracenic architecture to match the most important sites of the city, which is also known to be "The City of Nawabs".

The "Indo-Saracenic" architecture is also called Indo-Gothic, Hindoo or Hindu-Gothic, Mughal-Gothic, Neo-Mughal. It's a mix between Indo-Islamic, Indian, Gothic Revival and Neo-Classical movements. It was used by the British at the end of the nineteenth century in British India.

The building is constructed in red brick and has a frontage of long verandahs adorned with Mughal arches. Apart from the "Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station", it's my favorite train station in India. Besides, architecturally, it is considered one of the most beautiful railway stations in India and we can say that trains are kind a big of a deal in India.

From the Lucknow Station, I took the train to go to Varanasi. You can take the train there and use the following lines :
  • Varanasi - Lucknow line
  • Varanasi - Rae Bareli - Lucknow line
  • Varanasi - Sultanpur - Lucknow line
  • Lucknow - Kanpur Suburban Railway
  • Barabanki - Lucknow Suburban Railway
  • Lucknow - Moradabad line
  • Lucknow - Gorakhpur line

Taking the train in India, is something that YOU HAVE TO DO. It's an amazing and fun experience, you'll get the chance to meet the locals and to experience travelling as an indian. It will be even better if you're travelling in an overnight train.

Lucknow's Railway Station, Uttar Pradesh, India

It can be a real pain in the ass to understand how to book a train ticket though. The Indian railway system is really complex and demanding. Among other stuff, you'll face the "Foreign Tourist Train Ticket Quota", the different classes, etc... So every time I had to take the train in India, I asked to the terrific travel agency "India Someday" to book the tickets for me. I saved so much trouble and time thanks to them !

Lucknow's Railway Station, Uttar Pradesh, India

The inside of the train station is pretty but as not pretty as its outside though. It also has Mughal arches, but the colors used are white and lilac.

And not surprising at all in India : a guy mending the train at the last minute carrying his tools in a bag of indian snack (Navratan Mixture in case you're wondering) and lying on a train berth ! I still arrived safe and sound to Varanasi so I guess the Indian way is the only way as some of my friends would say.

Street Art Stroll in Paris, France

 Street Art Stroll in Paris

Hi everyone,
As you might have noticed I am french and I do live in Paris. I am not originally from Paris, I was born in the south-west of France in a small town called Dax. However, I've lived in Paris for more than 20 years, so I consider myself like a true Parisian now.

Street Art Stroll in Paris

I love to watch movies and I am really happy when a foreign movie is shot in Paris. But what I really hate is the many stupid clichés about France and Paris. Come on guys, there is no accordion player every 100 meters, I am not wearing a béret and I am not carrying my baguette under my arm all day long!!!

Street Art Stroll in Paris

So I wanted to break stereotypes a little bit and show you another Paris, even another Paris than the "City of Love". To be honest, I am not really fond of Paris and I don't find it that romantic, but it's still my city!

Street Art Stroll in Paris

Anyway, I live in the south-east of Paris, in the XXth borough. My neighborhood is not touristy except maybe for the "Père Lachaise" (biggest cemetery of Paris where a lot of famous people are buried, like Balzac, Victor Hugo, Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison...).

Street Art Stroll in Paris

A while ago in my area, there was a building which was going to be demolished. So the city of Paris allowed street artists to tag the walls for a few months before the destruction. For many months, different artists painted those walls.

Street Art Stroll in Paris

The building is no more and now became... you'll never guess : buildings of the "Ministry Of The Interior"!
Can you believe by seeing those pictures, what it's become now ? Can you believe that it was in Paris ?

Street Art Stroll in Paris

Like I just said, unfortunately you can't visit this particular street anymore but there are plenty of street art spots in Paris, so here are a few :

• Bercy's Skate Park :
I really really love this place. It's a skate park covered with plenty of graffitis. This skate park is in the middle of a huge park and gardens, next to the river Seine and to the "Bibliothèque François Mitterand". There are also a cinema, restaurants and cafés really close by in "Bercy Village".
How to get there :
- metro : Bercy (line 6 and 14)
- address : Parc de Bercy - 75012 Paris

Street Art Stroll in Paris

• Rue Dénoyez :
Also located in the XXth borough, the rue Dénoyez is dedicated to street art. It's really smaller though, I will definitely go there one day and take some pics. It's not very far from the "Père-Lachaise" and the "Buttes-Chaumont". So you can squeeze everything in one day.
How to get there :
- metro : Belleville (line 2 and 11)
- address : Rue Dénoyez - 75020 Paris

Street Art Stroll in Paris

• Le M.U.R. :
Le mur means the wall in english. Yes, it is only a wall provided by an association to artists to showcase their work. The art changes every 2/3 weeks or so. It's not astonishing but it's a nice way to discover street artists and it's just next to a nice café, so you can just chill there for a bit. It's also in the same area.
How to get there :
- metro : Parmentier, Saint-Maur (line 3)
- address : 107 Rue Oberkampf - 75011 Paris

Street Art Stroll in Paris

It's a place where you can listen to music, have a drink on the rooftop, have a brunch, a diner, and enjoy street art from many different artists. It's located on the Canal Saint-Martin, I'd suggest you to go during spring and summer when people are sitting on the banks of the Seine. It's definitely not a touristy place!
How to get there :
- metro : Jaurès (line 2,5 and 7 bis)
- address : 200 Quai de Valmy - 75010 Paris

Here you are, I hope you'll like the pics below! Let me know if you have any questions about street art spots in Paris, I'd be happy to help!
